addressed to 'master evan morgan leonard' and posted june 20th somewhere between 1912-1914, this postcard reads:
you mind
your sister also
your mother or
i will fix you
when i come home
daddy.
you'd think that by posting a sweet, orr & company postcard such as this that i'd go off on some arcane history relating to the picture of their original factory. i'm actually more interested in the back of the card these days. the card's message is from a period of time when very few fathers got to spend substantial amounts of time with their children, especially during their child's toddler-hood.
fortunately some things have changed over the past 100 years and that has not been my situation. the past year or so i've been spending pretty much every day with my son, working on my projects at night as time and energy permits. followers of my blog (there's only a couple dozen, but i'm happy to have them) have probably noticed that my posts are about half of what they were for 2009 and 2010.
i'm not making any apologies here, my son is only going to be a toddler for so long. as he gets older (he's almost two) my time is at a premium. frankly, i'd much rather be a good father than a good blogger.
